I came across an issue with the Exchange 2007 server in my project test environment where the Information Store service seemed to hang.
Even after a reboot the service did not resume correctly - the service sat in status of ’stopping’ and would not respond.

OK, so after trying to install MS Exchange 2007 on a brand new Windows Server 2008 Virtual Machine the install kept failing with the error “Error. Service ‘MSExchangeTransport’ failed to reach status ‘Running’ on this server.
